Position Description & Requirements

Summer Landscaping & Winter Snow Removal

Acer employs staff year-round in seasonal outdoor maintenance positions. Some staff work one season only, while others work year-round, rotating through multiple skills and roles. Employees will be required to operate a variety of tools and equipment.

Landscape Maintenance work includes:

  • lawn service or mowing

  • fertilizing

  • weed control

  • mulch install

  • mulch installation

  • shrub pruning

  • spring and fall property clean ups

Winter work is available in our snow removal division. Positions include:

  • Shoveler

  • Snowblower

  • Plow truck driver

  • Salting

Valid driver’s license necessary for most winter positions. Limited non-driving positions may be available.

 

Job Requirements


CREW MEMBERS

 
  • Valid driver’s license, clean driving record

  • Responsible, dependable, Integrity, Quality focused

  • Time management skills

  • Some landscape experience is preferred, but training is provided for motivated individuals

  • Able to follow directions, and catch the small details

  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs repeatedly

  • Familiar with common landscape equipment and tools, able to be trained on new equipment

  • Ability to work alone without supervision or as part of a multi person crew

  • Able to work in a variety of conditions

  • Fast paced environment, excellent stamina is required


FOREMAN
(additional requirements)

 
  • Foreman candidates should have several years experience running projects and crews.

  • Able to plan and organize a job before starting to maximize efficiency

  • Extremely detail oriented

  • Knowledge of common landscape plants, materials, tools

  • Able to identify shrubs for proper pruning techniques

  • Able to identify perennials during fall cut down

  • Able to identify weeds vs landscape plants

  • Experienced operators of commercial mowers, string trimmers, blowers, hedge trimmers, etc…

  • Able to drive trucks and trailers, comfortable backing up trailers

  • Ability to train new crew members as needed

  • Complete paperwork and job reports

  • WI commercial applicator’s license is preferred.  Paid training and licensing is available.
